MasqueradeLady
Why my two nics?
The stunning graphics provided by a friend in the old MSN Campfires League,
and the music, "This Masquerade," are the reasons for MasqueradeLady.
Also, the masked lady, above, is a redhead... lol... otherwise, as you can see,
I do not resemble her!

                                        Where do I live?

Where have I traveled?
In the United States? Literally North, South, East, West.  From New York City to San Francisco, from Duluth, Minnosota to Miami Beach, Florida.

In my childhood, lived in all those places, and some in between, for at least a year or more.

Outside the United States: Gorgeous western Canada and Vancouver Island (the Rockies in the United States cannot begin to compare with the Canadian Rockies)... England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland... and short visits to Ensenada, Mexico.

  Where would I like to go for a holiday?

Why do I like playing league Spades?
The Leagues have a wonderful spirit, competitive, skilled players, and  "Rules" on Case's Ladders...  regulations which try to do something concrete to stem cheating.  A friend, Patrick, discovered the leagues a couple of years ago, and urged me to join him there. Then the discovery of the excellent  guidelines and the friendliness of the league players became the clincher for me.

What is my favorite song?
    ooo so many from Country to Classic... but.. probably my all time favorite from teenagerdom is the 2nd movement of the Beethoven Sonata Pathetique, the Adagio Cantabile.   If you would like to hear the Adagio, turn off the player above, and click on the small player here :                      This is a terrific guitar version, sequenced by F. Nachbaur.
     But the all-time goose-bump-maker is the "Pilgrims Chorus" from Tannhauser, sung a capella by the Robert Shaw Chorale. To listen, (it is magnifienct), turn off other players, turn on this one:

     And one more... I recently discovered:  Listen to this incredible version of "Stranger on the Shore" as performed by clarinetist, Acker Bilk.  This was a surprise to me... perhaps, as well, to you?

As you see, my taste is eclectic.  I love Toby Keith, Michael Crawford, Roberta Flack, Andrew Lloyd Webber, the Carpenters, Wagner, Jim Reeves, the music from Faust (awesome!), and yes! Elvis Presley!

Besides playing spades, what do I like best to do?
read.. read... read... almost everything that comes into my hands.. prefer historical novels, especially the Collleen McCullough Masters of Rome series about the Roman Republic.  My favorite modern author, though, is Dick Francis. I love the depths of meaning that he finds  in the ordinary English language...

I'm a writer manqué, love to write all kinds of stuff, including pomes.  And to research new ideas;
I have a craving "need to know"....

I like to walk on the beach, and create websites with homestead;
I've skied Aspen, Donner, & Mammoth, and ridden horses like a demon, English and Western...

Ah, my dream...
Seattle, Washington.
I go there whenever I can find an excuse.
Actually, I'd like to relocate closer by if at all possible.
I live in a very small, primitive,  town on the north coast of California, about 30 miles south of the Oregon border.  But, it is among the redwoods, and environmentally exquisite

Moved here a few years ago after living almost 20 years in Santa Barbara.
Oh.. and I do not do TV.. at all, in fact. Had the cable cancelled ... I get all I need from books, newspapers, and the Internet.  However, I've been known to sponge on friends for football games.
"This Masquerade."  sung by Karen Carpenter, is what you are hearing.

You may turn off the music or adjust the sound on the player.  Tbe sure the other players are turned off to hear each selection.
